6 Coolest Places In Ballarat for your Wedding Photos

One of our most asked questions as wedding photographers and Videographers is where are the best places to have our photos taken?

Ballarat is an insanely awesome and diverse city. The heritage buildings, laneways, free art and parks are all absolutely beautiful places for wedding photos. You can park in the CBD and stroll around to some of the iconic locations, or you could just spend your photo sesh at the lake and gardens precinct and get heaps of different backdrops in your shots.

Here’s a list of some of our favourite and most accessible places for wedding photos in Ballarat.

LYDIARD STREET

The buildings that line Lydiard Street will make your photos instantly iconic, if you're getting hitched in Btown it's basically illegal to not have your photo taken here.

It’s not all about that well-known shot looking straight down Lydiard Street though, play around and get the Regent Multiplex behind you, it’s absolutely stunning with all the lights turned on. Take a stroll down the street to get the Mining Exchange or any of the old heritage buildings in your photos.

POLICE LANE

Off Lydiard Street so you can plan out the locations you want to hit, this one is by the Art Gallery of Ballarat so there’s always something new on display from disco ball installations to murals.

HOP LANE

Another icon, the festoon lights and umbrellas create the dreamiest vibes for your photos. This laneway is full of art work too so there’s so much for your photographer to capture. It also happens to be the home of one of Ballarat’s best bars, Hop Temple, so you can break your photo sesh up with an awesome local brew.

 
 

ANY OF BALLARAT'S AMAZING STREET ART

The Main Street mural by Travis Price, whatever the gallery annexe wall is sporting at the time, Unicorn Lane. You’re bound to find something cool to set the stage for your photos.

LAKE WENDOUREE PRECINCT

Lake Wendouree and the adjoining botanic gardens is a beautiful location if urban streets isn’t the vibe you want for your photos. The lake is home to The Ballarat Tramway Museum, The Tram Car Ice Cream Co, the iconic conservatory and so much more. The surrounding streets are lined with beautiful old houses that serve as a beautiful backdrop too.

6. Around the town hall

There’s laneways, the tree lined end Armstrong Street and Il Piccolo Gelato is a good time for photos!
