6 Uniquely Awesome Wedding Venues In the Heart of Ballarat

Visualise for a minute, you’re planning your wedding, you’ve got guests coming from all across the country, the logistics of coordinating travel and accommodation for all these people is a freaking nightmare as it is and then the thought of not being able to party beyond any normal venue’s 11pm curfew hurts your dancing queen soul.

Queue an amazing and unique experience right in the heart of Ballarat! Ballarat with it’s incredible gold rush era architecture, insanely good food game and art filled laneways, Ballarat is oozing with charm and incredible places to make it official!

If you’re keen to skip the grapevines and have an easy, cool urban wedding then these 5 insanely unique venues (in no particular order) are sure to give you all the inspo you could ever need!

  1. Renard

60 seated, 100 cocktail

Cocktails, wines and good times is this bar’s tagline and as a regular I can confirm this place is definitely a good time! The cocktails are next level and ever changing and I have a serious addiction to the bread, YES! The bread! The food game at Renard is next level. The vibe is super chill with ambient jazz music playing and silent films on the projector on a regular evening.

Renard leans more towards a reception venue but the whole place is gorgeous, there’s no reason why you couldn’t have an extremely dreamy intimate ceremony here.

2. Housey Housey

150 seated, 200 cocktail

Located at The Forge, Ballarat’s coolest pizza place, this venue has it all! First of all it’s freaking huge! Second, it’s an awesome mix of rustic and warehouse vibes smack bang in the centre of the main food precinct. It’s big enough to host your ceremony right through to tearing up the dance floor.

3. Mitchell Harris Wines

50 seated, 150 cocktail

Mitchell Harris Wines provides an incredible food and wine experience in a choice of three unique spaces. Walking in, it doesn’t feel like you’re in the heart of the city. The building is charming and warm and the perfect place for a winter wedding in my opinion.

Check them out here.

4. Aunty Jacks

60 seated, 120 cocktail

Aunty Jacks feels like a giant grown up playground! This brewery and pub is eclectically styled and super cozy despite the fact that the place is huge and has 3 seperate spaces to choose from! I can confirm the food and beers are spot on, I’m a huge fan of the pale ale and the It’s Always Sunny in Ballarat cocktail is a close second.

Check them out here.

5. The Hydrant Food Hall

100 guests

The Hydrant is a converted warehouse in one of Ballarat’s iconic laneways, it serves as a cafe by day and a next level party space by night. The vibe is awesome with festoon lighting and lush indoor greenery. There’s plenty of room to hit the dance floor and it still feels secluded despite being in the heart of the city.

Check them out here.

6. The art gallery of ballarat

150 seated, 300 cocktail

Have you thought about hosting your wedding in the grandeur of a Gallery? Your day will become even more memorable as it unfolds among world-class paintings, sculptures and artworks.
