How To Make Your Wedding Video Awesome
Are you dreaming about having an absolutely epic wedding video? One that captures the day's vibe and feels like it was made exactly for you and your boo? Hiring a videographer that makes the style of video you like sounds like a no-brainer but there are things you can do to make your video even more awesome!
GIVE YOUR VIDEOGRAPHER THE CHANCE TO KNOW YOU
You don’t have to become BFFs and spend every waking hour together but giving your videographer the chance to know you outside of planning a wedding is an easy way to make your video even more awesome. It gives them the opportunity to learn how you interact with each other in a normal setting so you avoid having any cringe-worthy poses in your film. They’ll have a better idea of your personality types so they know which type of moments to really focus on and showcase plus, you’ll both feel way more comfortable around your videographer on the day if you’ve already caught up for a couple of vinos. Win-win!
Tell stories in your vows and speeches
Audio is key to creating a story-driven and personalised wedding video, writing meaningful vows or giving a hilarious speech means your videographer has more content to get creative with.
Pro tip: Including a common theme is our favourite way to tell stories, you can still surprise each other with your vows at your ceremony but you can plan together to both talk about the first time you met or your hilarious road trip story or anything that you both have good memories of.
Extra pro tip: You can get your celebrant in on it too! Check out Lisa and Brad’s video to see how we use stories to make your video epic.
Do a first look
They’re gorgeous for photos, capturing all the feels of seeing each other for the first time on your wedding day is bliss but there’s nothing like capturing it on video. The nerves, the emotions and pure excitement can give your video all of those huge wedding feels in just a few seconds.
Get interviewed
This is especially helpful if you’re eloping or not having speeches at your wedding. Having your videographer sit you down and ask you a few questions can really help take your video to the next level! Check out Amanda and Rhys’s video to see it in action.
Do a confetti toss
Honestly, I don’t have any great reason why other than confetti tosses look absolutely freaking sick in wedding videos!
Have a pumping d floor
Especially if you’re both big personalities and you love wedding videos with fast cuts and upbeat music, getting the right DJ, band or musician can really help set the tone for how your wedding video plays out.
Pro tip: Don’t start slow! Make sure the first few songs are straight bangers that everyone knows so they're encouraged to get up early in the night, your videographer will have heaps of fun stuff to add to your film.
I hope these tips have helped you think about all the ways you can make your wedding video even more awesome besides hiring a videographer you love.
